A couple of weeks ago I came home and found these...
which reminded me that life is sweet. And seeing as I've been on a sugar rush lately I decided that I wanted to try making chocolate sushi. Or as I like to call them, edible pieces of heaven.
It was my first time making/working with modeling chocolate and it was quite fun. Although on my second batch the modeling chocolate didn't have enough corn syrup in it which made it crack and stick to the parchment paper-- not fun. After all the mess I ended up with a few rolls made out of chocolate, rice krispie treats and I used dried fruit in the middle for filling. It was a lot of fun and I'm thinking that next time I'm going to try sculpting sashimi out of white chocolate. I made dark chocolate dipping sauce for the "soy sauce" and piped green butter cream for the wasabi. Fun!
